June to December 2012

The past 6 months have been pretty good to me…
Back in June I quit my day job to go into film making (acting and producing) full time. The past 6 months have proven that it was the right decision. It came down to time. This is a tough enough industry as it is. Having a job and trying to make it happen don’t work so well. Especially when that job is a 9-5.
Anyway, since my departure from the d.j. I’ve been able to submit myself for and get a good number of auditions in. I’m very glad I made the choice that I made. Of course, financially speaking, some months are better than others but when is that not the case no matter your position in life.
The first four months I spent all of my time, submitting, auditioning and filming. From November to December I took on the role of producing a short western film called “Spirited”.
That action required me to take a break from the acting side of things. That was literally a full time job. We had to raise money to get the thing going. We had to schedule auditions, read throughs, rehearsals. We rented an RV…on and on and on. TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! The film is currently in post-production. And from what little I’ve seen so far. WOW!
Once January hits, I plan to get back into the ol’ auditioning game. New head shots. Update the resume and my website. Y’know. Get some projects under my belt. But I also plan to stay in the producer game with at least 2 more shorts and a feature. Hard work? Yes. Acting is far easier. But I love doing both. So I’m going to keep it up.
So that’s been the last half of 2012. And I’m eager to see where 2013 takes me.
